Know your neighborhood
Leimert Park was laid out in 1927-28 as a planned community built symmetrically around Leimert Plaza Park and its fountain. The village runs along Degnan Boulevard and 43rd Place — closed to cars in 2015 — where The World Stage hosts jazz workshops and the drum circle gathers most Sundays. When a major Black figure dies, the community gathers at that fountain within hours.
