Collins runs straight up the sand. This was Motel Row: neon signs, family motels, the whole postwar postcard, and the Ocean Palm gets credit as the first two-story motel in the country. The towers took the skyline. The pier has been standing and falling since 1936, Wilma wrecked it last, and it came back as the Newport Fishing Pier in 2013. Dawn on it still belongs to the fishermen.
